Gay, lesbian health issues to be studied

CMA News 1996; 6 (4): 9
Recognizing that gay and lesbian patients have specific health care needs, the Board of Directors endorsed a template for a curriculum on gay and lesbian issues. Designed by the teaching section of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the template addresses issues such as the special medical needs of homosexual patients and ways to prepare family physicians to deal with those needs. In a presentation at the March board meeting, Dr. Robert Woollard, chair of the Committee on Education, said "this goes beyond simple administration and presents an opportunity to do some good."
