January 1997Essay ContestsLogie Medical Ethics Essay ContestThis contest is open to undergraduate medical students attending Canadian universities. The awards this year are $1500 for the winning essay, $1000 for second place and $750 for third place. The winning essays will be published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. Wightman AwardThis award of $1000 is open to medical residents in programs accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In 1997 the winning essay will be presented during the Biomedical Ethics Paper Session at the Royal College Annual Meeting which will be held in Vancouver in September. Last year's winner was Dr. Tina Chadda, Toronto, for her paper, "Complexities in capacity assessment: bringing forth underlying ethical principles." Essays should be no longer than 5000 words.
