Office of HIV Vaccines

The Office of HIV Vaccines has been created for a limited time to serve as Secretariat for the CHVI and deliver PHAC’s program and policy activities under the CHVI.

The Office, in the role as the Secretariat for the CHVI is responsible for:

  • enhancing Canada’s contribution to the global efforts by mobilizing expertise, partnerships and resources (e.g., researchers, academics, the private sector)
  • monitor key trends in HIV vaccine
  • liaising with domestic and international stakeholders
  • providing support to the CHVI governance and management structures, including its Interdepartmental Steering Committee, multi-stakeholder advisory committees and working groups.

In addition the Office will deliver:

  • policy research to address key barriers to HIV vaccine research and development (e.g., intellectual property, global access)
  • a transfer payment program that encourages stakeholders to examine issues related to communities and social dimensions.
